Ric and Joni Yeates 2. What was the timeframe you worked at Microware? September 1987 to Present 3. What was your job title(s) and what did you do at Microware? Technical Support, Training and Education, Engineer, Manager, Architect, Staff. I worked on Ultra C, OS-9, OS-9000, and Java. 4. What is your most interesting or vivid memory of Microware? I've been with Microware so long it's hard to single out any particular memories. I remember the fun "Attitude Adjustment" sessions and the free lunch. 5. What were some of your favorite times at Microware? Working on Ultra C. We had an excellent team and it was a lot of really hard work. It's still being used today. My parts contained a lot of hand-written code; it wasn't just a port of someone else's code made to work for OS-9. 6. Have any experiences, skills, or habits that you picked up at Microware made an impact on your life? Please share them with us. I learned how to play basketball and that it's really not a foul unless someone goes to the emergency room. I learned everything I know about computer programming. I learned to read source code written under the influence. 7. What was your reason for leaving Microware? Haven't left yet (except once for 3 days, but I was temporarily insane). 8. What have you been doing career-wise since Microware? Nothing, I never left. 9. Tell us about your family: spouse, significant others, kids, pets, etc. I'm still married to Joni (the OptImage accountant). We have two great kids adopted from Korea (South - the non-atomic Korea). Matt is 7 and Megan is 4. 11. Do you ever see other former Microware employees and do you have their email addresses? Some, but I think I've already turned in the ones that I know. |
