2. What was the timeframe you worked at Microware?

August 1987-April 1990

3. What was your job title(s) and what did you do at Microware?

Technical Writer - I wrote and edited systems-level software manuals for OS-9/68000, OS-9000, and CD-RTOS.

4. What is your most interesting or vivid memory of Microware?

Unfortunately, this has to be the unjust firings of several stellar employees, including my fantastic boss.

5. What were some of your favorite times at Microware?

Going to the B.B. King party, playing music with other Microware employees, bike-riding to work, ice skating at lunchtime, learning about operating systems and having a real grown-up job. I spent my first paycheck on a shiny new red mountain bike. :)

6. Have any experiences, skills, or habits that you picked up at Microware made an impact on your life? Please share them with us.

What I learned at Microware certainly prepared me well to become a Programmer/Writer at Microsoft and eventually move into Program Management. It also taught me to be aware and wary of office politics. This was my first real job out of college, so it was an eye opener.

7. What was your reason for leaving Microware?

The firing of my boss prompted me to look elsewhere for employment.

8. What have you been doing career-wise since Microware?

I've been at Microsoft since April 1990, right after I left Microware. I spent ~2.5 years as a Programmer/Writer working on OS/2, DOS 5, Windows 3.1, and Windows NT. After that, I became a Program Manager, working on online technologies in the Research Division for ~2.5 years, then moved to the Microsoft Games Studios, where I've worked on Sports and Simulations titles ever since. I'm currently the PM for Project Gotham Racing 3 on Xbox.

9. Tell us about your family: spouse, significant others, kids, pets, etc.

I got married in March 2004 to Russ Glaeser, who also works at Microsoft, as a developer in the Windows Division. He taught me to rock climb, I taught him to play softball, and we learned to scuba dive at the same time. :) We have two one-year-old miniature schnauzers, Zoey and Liesl.

10. Please attach up to three pictures of yourself, family, pets, and etc. to appear in the Reunion Highlights DVD. We prefer .jpg and .gif images.

11. Do you ever see other former Microware employees and do you have their email addresses?

I stay in touch with Tim Harris fairly regularly - he's retired from Microsoft. Richard Russell and Andy Nicholson both work at Microsoft, too. Robert Doggett is also retired from Microsoft and has recently moved to Mexico. The reunion email has gone around, so they're all aware of it.
